The best weather conditions for hiking
Hiking can be done in most weather as long as it is not to severe, that being said there are clearly weather conditions that are better suited to hiking. The most important thing is to make sure that whatever the weather conditions are that you are prepared for them. Going hiking unprepared for the weather can be a recipe for disaster.
The best weather conditions that you can have for hiking is a day that is reasonably warm but not too warm and with a fair amount of cloud cover. You really don't want to be out hiking on days when it is very hot and ideally you won't have the sun scorching you either. It is also best if there is a light breeze, enough to keep you cool but not so much as to make walking difficult. These are the best conditions for hiking but the chances of getting perfect conditions are pretty low.
There is really no reason that you can't hike in most conditions as long as you are prepared for it. The exception to this would be if it were extremely hot, there is little that you can do to prepare for this. Most other conditions like the cold or rain can be dealt with if you have proper clothing. If you are going to go hiking in less than ideal conditions you need to make sure that the route that you intend to take is still passable. Rain and snow can completely block a trail in some cases so make sure that you check on conditions before you set out.
Regardless of what the weather conditions are when you go hiking you have to make sure that you prepared for changes that may occur. The weather can change very quickly and if you are a long way from home you may get stuck in them. Therefore it is important at a minimum that you have some extra clothing along with you in case it starts to get cold. You should also keep a survival kit with you so that if you can't back because of the weather you will be able to survive until you are rescued.
Since the weather can change very quickly on you it is a good idea to watch out for warning signs that the weather may change. The best way to do this is to get a good weather forecast before you start your hike. You are also going to want to keep an eye on the sky, if the clouds start increasing you can probably expect that the weather is going to change for the worse. The same is true if the wind starts to pick up. Make sure that if the weather does start to change that you take appropriate action sooner rather than later.
